The multi-faceted media exhange and distribution service we created called [email protected] continues to grow steadily in richness and diversity.
Music PEI, the industry association for musicians on Prince Edward Island, recently held a very successful annual awards gala. Back in September they tapped us to provide online services of different varieties to help promote their members and the big event, and to provide some interesting coverage of the awards and performances that went into the show.
The results of this partnership which includes Holland College's Interactive Multimedia Program (IMM) and the Island Media Arts Co-op (IMAC) have been coming online for the past few weeks.
How do artists and musicians on Prince Edward Island compete to have their voice heard in an increasingly centralized media landscape? They team with local new media artists, who if given the chance, can bring a unique perspective and global reach to traditional forms of expression. Incidentally....in an incredibly cost-effective manner, I might add.
Recently the students of IMM unleashed their collection of video
profiles - short vignettes of select musicians nominated for this year's Prince Edward Island Music Awards. As
anyone can see, with just a little help from their instructor, the multi-talented Patrick
Ledwell, the students really came up with some good work.
Take a look at the following 2 minute profiles. See for yourself the
level of talent and the kind of creativity that we have here in our musicians, and yes, in our new media artists.
- Profile of Eric Broadbent by Peter Barrett
- Profile of Timothy Chiasson by Tim Foster
- Profile of Eddy Quinn by Dan MacCormac

Postscript
A complement to its live Internet broadcasting services, [email protected] (pron: Radio AT UPEI) has now been used to distribute well over 350 podcasts. Arts, Sports, Academics, and all kinds of different subject matter. Until this fall we mainly concentrated on audio podcasts....using smart technology to share mp3s -even to help anyone anywhere set up an easy process to download them automatically to their iPod or like mp3 player.
But now we're going gangbusters into video too.
This fall we took the initial steps to really beef up on the
elements of digital video all the way from content creation through
distribution. We got a lot of good advice from a lot of really smart
people. We built on already successful partnerships with the likes of
Holland College's Interactive Multimedia Program (IMM) and Music PEI.
And we reached out to the fantastic people at Island Media Arts Co-op
(IMAC) among other groups. Subscribe today.
